Who Benefits from Microblading?
Due to poor healing, poor pigment retention, and infection prevention those affected by any of the following conditions are not suitable candidates for Microblading:
How Long Does Each Procedure Take?
The initial procedure will generally take 3 hours. This includes records, photographs, desired design and color consultation, the procedure, and the aftercare requirements discussion. The perfecting visit in 4-6 weeks usually does not require the same amount of time.
Is It Painful?
Topical anesthetics are used to decrease or eliminate any discomfort. The pre-procedural anesthetic placed on the eyebrows will limit the pain associated with the first needle pass. Once the skin is broken, a solution containing lidocaine and epinephrine will be applied throughout the procedure. This greatly reduces pain and limits swelling. Many clients fall asleep during the procedure.
What to Expect During the Procedure:
During the procedure there may be minor bleeding, which is client specific. Some slight bleeding would be expected for those taking blood thinners. Others show little or no signs of bleeding.
Pre-Procedural Advice:
To ensure best results you should be in good health and get enough rest. No waxing, plucking, or threading for three days. Electrolysis should not be done for one week prior, as the pores would be open and ink can enter those areas. No Retin A, Botox, Collagen, Alpha Hydroxy Acid for two weeks. 24 hours before and after your appointment avoid alcohol, aspirin, and any other related blood thinners (unless instructed by your physician). One week before procedure stop taking the following supplements: Vitamin E, B6, Omega 3, Gingko Biloba, and St. John’s Wort. These products contribute to the thinning of blood and may affect anesthetic efficacy. You may resume taking your vitamins three days post procedure. On the day of your appointment avoid caffeine and exercise. Wash your hair in the morning as you will need to avoid getting your brows wet for 7-10 days.
What is a Perfecting Visit and Do I Need One?
Since Microblading is a process, at least one follow-up to the initial procedure should be scheduled. Any touch-up work to the original procedure should be performed no sooner than six weeks after the original procedure. The perfecting visit is included in the initial cost of the procedure.
Can I Still Have an MRI Scan?
Our pigments are MRI safe; however, if you are due to have a MRI please inform your MD/MRI technician that you have had semi-permanent cosmetics.
What to Expect Post-procedure:
Your eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. Immediately following the procedure your eyebrows will appear dark but will soften and lighten during the healing process (4-6 weeks). The healing time is different for each individual. Pigment retention may vary according to skin type, skin tone, age, skin condition, aftercare, immune system, medication, and certain chemicals. Some skin types accept pigment more readily. No guarantee on exact color can be given. BE PATIENT. It takes time to become acclimated to a new look! Any swelling and redness will subside between 1-4 days. In some cases, bruising may occur. If your eyebrows become dry or itchy, DO NOT SCRATCH. Gently tap the eyebrows to release the itch. Some strokes will disappear and reappear in 2-3 weeks. It is perfectly natural to lose between 10-15% of your strokes. This is the purpose of the perfecting visit.
